Howdy!
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Tom Stevens. Some of you
are familiar with my work over the last 30 years, with my attempts
to recapture the Old West through my Hondo "Saddles under the Stars
Line", a business that has concentrated on bringing back a range of
affordable, quality made western saddles to all of those who appreciate
such creations. However, since the advent of bringing my business to the
Internet, I have come across a small, but unique group of very discerning
individuals, scattered around the World, who are seeking out just a little
more than plain common sense quality, craftsmanship and value for money
when it comes to their saddles.
Yes,
these men and women are looking for a lot more than this when it comes
to their sense of style, horses, their way of life and, most importantly,
their saddles. Their most important criteria when it comes to this area
is not money – and by that I do not mean they necessarily have money to
burn or waste on the tasteless frivolities of life – most important to
these discerning people are all the factors and qualities that go into
any quality product, and a great deal more!
As
far as these folk’s saddles go, they really are not the kind of products
that have been created in the last 50 years or so anywhere, and indeed
are really only found in museums and the like—up until now! Since the last
great saddle craftsman like Bohlin stopped producing their unique
works for the movies, very |
little
in the way of show saddles, parade saddles, etc. have been created
and all those that were made are now in museums just gathering dust and
appreciating in value.
Show &
Parade Saddles
from $6,000.00
Discerning
buyers and collectors have paid $50,000 or more for a good replica of Roy
Rogers' famous saddle he used on Trigger and the movies they acted in for
example!
When
I first considered doing this for myself I did not really consider the
financial side to this project. I expected my range of custom made "saddles
of distinction" to be very expensive considering the additional work, as
well as there being a lot more silver, tack and saddle going into each
creation.
However,
because I can look at a World Wide market for my creations via the Internet
(as opposed to your normal saddle maker only satisfying a local market)
I was pleasantly surprised to find that these great saddles I wanted to
make were little more in price than many 'normal' saddles offered by others.
Why
not take a few minutes to look over this site to see just what you can
get for yourself?
